Rescue Abused Dog was Shot, Emaciated, Weak & Freezing With Thousand Ants Eating Alive We’re (ThisisHouston) headed to pick up a dying dog in Cleveland.This dog was dying? Found emaciated, weak and freezing with ants eating him alive, his heart rate was so low, too. We cried a lot when we met him. He was rescued urgently. He’s not responding to CPR yet. This poor baby, he was indeed literally dying. Send all your prayers and positive thoughts Jake’s way - he really needs them. Based on x-rays, he has gastric bloat which is causing his symptoms. His stomach is enlarged with air and twisted. He needs surgery ASAP but that is so risky considering his condition. He’s anemic but no blood transfusion is needed at this time. He’s still heavily sedated because the fracture is causing him to be in pain. Jake is still resting comfortably. After reviewing the x-rays ourselves, we believe he has a bullet or pellet lodged in his body. As if he hasn’t suffered enough, people were intentially cruel to him. Still no luck placing the feeding tube, but he is tolerating syringe feedings! He’s eating enough to get his nutrients. These feet, these swollen paws, this bare skin, these tired legs. They are attached to a body that is oh so tired. Sick. Far too thin. A body that knows what it means to fight to live. Inside this body, there is a heart that refuses to stop beating, a soul that refuses to give up. A light that will not be diminished by all that the cruel world hurled his way. This is a dog who has known fear and pain. Hunger. Loneliness. Sadness. Rejection. It’s crazy seeing him stand up and walk - he’s so much taller than we thought, and we were the ones who first saw him! Jake is doing absolutely amazing! He’s been the sweetest boy and loves to give kisses. He started physical therapy yesterday and was very tired after his first session but he did really well. From lifeless to full of life. He’s doing so SO well! He’s standing on his own, and even takes a few steps on his own, too. Thank you to everyone who is following Jake’s story and rooting for him! Jake feels the love for sure!
