FISH UNDER GROUND IN THE CAVES OF THE PERMAX
The structure "Merzlotnik" was built by the labor of special and exiled migrants, workers of the Novoportovsk fish factory in the 50s of the XX century. To date, the construction "Merzlotnik" is the world's largest storage facility in permafrost, made with the help of manual labor. It has been operating according to its main purpose for more than 50 years, over the years it has not undergone major restructuring and reconstruction.
The Merzlotnik facility is located directly on the eastern shore of the Novy Port Bay in the central part of the village. The history of the creation of the permafrost storage is inseparable from the history of the creation and development of the village. Novy Port and Novoportovskiy fish factory, which at one time was the main industrial enterprise of the village. It is a network of large underground tunnels.
