North Korea public execution of captain who listened to Free World radio for 10 years... 'This is North Korea'
A fishing boat captain in Chongjin City, North Hamgyeong Province, North Korea, was shot dead on charges of listening to Free Asia broadcasting for more than 10 years, the Free Asia Broadcasting (RFA) recently reported.
A fishing boat captain known as Choi Mo, in his 40s, was reportedly shot publicly after admitted to North Korean authorities that he had listened to RFA for more than 10 years.
A North Korean law enforcement official said, “In mid-October last year, a fishing boat captain in Chongjin was shot on charges of listening to RFA regularly for a long time. The captain's surname is Mr. Choi, in his 40s, and he was working at a fishing base belonging to the 39th Central Party.”
According to officials from the authorities, Choi, who was shot, was the captain and shipowner in charge of more than 50 ships, and Captain Choi confessed that he had listened to Free Asia Broadcasting from the age of 24 when he served as a radio soldier during an investigation by the Provincial Security Bureau.
He became a captain in his early 30s and listened to outside radio broadcasts unconditionally when he got out at the sea, and he listened to it with some younger sailors, and it is reported that the security authorities are taking it more seriously.
An official said, “After he finished his military service, he was able to listen to Free Asia TV again, and it seems that the memories of his military service have been revived by becoming a captain and finding a space for life.” “Another fishery base under Room 39 He pointed out that the illusion that the fishery base that is being prepared will not be able to tamper with it seems to have caused anger.”
“It is known that the provincial security bureau defined this case as an anti-party and overturning prayer incident, and it was known that the foreign currency earning in Chongjin City gathered about 100 captains and officers in charge of a fishery establishment and shot him openly.” It is known that the executives of the department's administration and security agencies were dismissed from their positions or were punished by dismissal.”
An official also said, “People who do seafaring enjoy listening to late Joseon broadcasts like Free Asian Broadcasting via radio or small radio when they get out of the sea.” “Because the authorities executed Choi Mo as a demonstration, listening to external radio broadcasts means death. It seems that it is intended to imprint on the residents once again.”
On the other hand, in North Korea, a major money changer in Pyongyang was executed in late October for a sharp decline in the exchange rate, and in August, a key executive who violated the ban on bringing goods for the prevention of Corona 19 was executed, the National Intelligence Service said last month.
Earlier, on the 16th, the UN General Assembly adopted a North Korean human rights resolution to condemn human rights violations in North Korea and urge improvement.
